That's not surprising Tom considering how he likes to crack heads in football. Sounds like he will be using something bigger than the 223 in deer season.... If he was smiling and you were smiling, sounds like there just might be some trading going on between dad and son!!!

I finally got to go deer hunting this morning. Where I was going to be in a tripod on some leased land has no more than a 70 yard shot with thick stuff all around it.
Accordingly I broke out the 45/70. About 8AM I heard blowing in the woods off to my left. The wind wasn't good for me. They made me! I swung the swivel seat around to my left and saw a head poking out of the thick stuff. Looking in my direction. Brought the rifle up and picked out an opening in what I calculated to be their direction of travel.
The last thing I saw was two white flags going back the way they came.
At least I saw something and now know how they move thru there. A good day was had.

The more I listen,the more I hear....and vice versa.

45/70,it's almost a religion.

If you have to take a second shot then you probably shouldn't have taken the first shot.

Had four bucks come in at the same time Sunday am . They all took turns working a scape and fighting LOTS of fighting . This one finally stood still at 25 yards ran about 75 yards and gave it up.

Duck!!! Looks like a heckova good time! Good to see the family smilin like heck!! Did you guys see a lot of birds?

We chased the birds around a bit as well. We saw 11 over the two days. Jack shot at a few, and I popped one on an old tag covered logging road when we flushed 4 up at one crack. Jack didn't know which way to turn.
