Yep, lots and lots of the stuff. Or sit/sleep in the shade during the day, and spotlight the vermin at night.

They have been trialling this in some large enclosures out in the desert country. I believe they have found that having a wild dog (dingo) apex predator present did suppress the fox and feral cat population, and that native species diversity was increased.

Makes sense. Will it work with everything in a free-range situation--who knows, but it seems lime it would be worth a try.

Yep, who knows. But the medium sized introduced predator population did take advantage of the European suppression of the wild dog. Also another theory that the feral cat has been here a lot longer than first thought. Some think that populations managed to establish when there were ship wrecks on the Australian coast in the 1500 and 1600's.

I kid you not, I was watching TV about 15 years ago, some documentary of some sort and a couple of aboriginal women were beating the piss out of something in knee high grass, turned out to be a cat. In the next scene the cat was roasted on an outdoor fire and...well, I don't remember if they were eating it but I suspect so. That was pretty cool, even though I grew up with them.

The pussy-huggers just don't get it.

The absolute worst thing a man can encounter is a dead cat in the street.

Crying shame.
Pull over the side of the road and bawl like a baby.

Perfectly good target practice gone to waste.

I'm teary eyed just thinking about it..

I said to the wife and kids they're going to kill 2 million.
I'd enjoy pictures of that pile..

There has never been a bounty on feral cats. Foxes & and wild dogs yes, but not cats.

Hmm. I recall reading about the issue years ago and thought there was a bounty? Maybe it was a local County or I simply am wrong.

Either way, sign me up! I'll bring the beer if Tide brings the spam and Vienna sausages.

Last cat I shot was on the front porch caterwauling and pissing and trying to get into the dog food.

"Honey, come here quick! That big wild tom is back! Give me 90 seconds to get out the back door and make ready then ease out the front door and around the porch nice and slow. You'll push him out back right to me and I'll paste him when he hops the fence."

Worked like a charm!

You should have heard the wife laugh.
He landed, turned and looked up at me, and it was too late.

BANG

10 feet away.

He's doing his flip flop with blood a spraying and my wife was laughing so hard she damn near peed her pants.

True story.
I got lots of good cat killin stories.
Somebody's gotta do it.

years back, when I was managing a chain restaurant, the feral cats would congregate around the dumpster in the morning. I would park across the lot, and ease that long barreled Remington 721t bolt .22 out the window.
When one would jump up on the lip of the dumpster, I'd do a head shot, and grin when it would just fall on in.

Ya'll a bunch of mean dudes. wink

I bet they'd be good coursing training for my whippets if one could find them out in a relatively treeless area. There's got to be a few of those over there, no? With plentiful cats?

Geno

PS. One of ours almost got the neighbor's cat, I'm glad it didn't as it wasn't on our property. Cat made it to their's first. Besides, this cat is always trying to get the gophers out of the yard for me.
