Man that is awful. Where about do you hunt in ND? The towns you are listing are a little more than a stones throw from my neck of the woods.

62 degrees in the house. Have not turned the furnace on yet.
Conditioning myself for the deer stand LOL. Plus i like to see how long i can go before the wife starts to complain.

Was at Fleet Farm in lakeville today. Didnt see any must have new deer slayer products. I am a sucker for that stuff.

R7, we go about 2 hours west of FF to a small town called Fredonia, ND pop. 46. A big elevator, a cafe, a garage, and the 3rd Base Bar (your last stop before home) is all there is. Main street is not gravel, but dirt. Post Office pulled out some years ago, so we used it as lodging. Lots of birds within a 10 mile radius this year, especially with all the corn off.

I think I may have lost my beloved Beretta A390. The boy was having issues with the Mossback 500 Bantam 20 ga. in the rain for ducks last weekend. Firing pin wasn't hitting the primer and when it did, the thing wouldn't rack. Admittedly, we were hunting in the pouring rain in muddy chopped corn. But still...

So I took him to the Club to have him try my 390 12 ga. This boy just turned 14. He's all arms and legs, no meat. 12s were rocking him a bit much last winter. Apparently no longer. He ran 22 out 25 at skeet. By the judge of his smile, I think it's gone for good.

Damn.

I liked that gun.

A lot.

It's been hard to get excided about deer season the last couple of years. My boss in this self-employment gig is a real dick. Doesn't sound like I'll get much time to sit. I'd try for smoke pole season but I have a bunch of woods to clear after it freezes.

On the bright side, I have some neighbor kids who have nowhere to go so I let them hunt on my property. I usually get to do plenty tracking, dragging, skinning and processing whether I pull a trigger or not.

The camaraderie is still there and what I enjoy most about deer season.

I'll stop complaining now and let you fellas get back to your rut. smile

I'm with ya WB. It's the camaraderie that makes it fun. I do enjoy being off by myself in the woods at times though.

The new experience for me is taking the kids. I've always brought the kids, but now they're actually hunting with a gun.

You guys that have experienced it are probably sick of me talking about it, but I'm excited!

We went to fleet farm last night and got the licenses. They were both excited about that. Pricey little buggers thought at $1 each. grin
