I have a .300 h&h super grade pre 64 that I want to restore and shoot . I bought this gun and believe it has been reblued so not so concerned about collectors value . Looking for a professional to refinish stock with a hand rubbed finish recommendations appreciated .
Thanks

I have been recommended to Kurt's Custom. I went online to research his skills. He has MANY YouTube vids on proper techniques and some of his work. I have had a couple folks respond to my inquiries about his results - all were quite satisfied. I opened communications with him via email and he gave me an estimate of $400 for my Pre64 Winchester stock (complete refurb including recheckering and added vine borders). He does a linseed oil hand rub finish which appeals to me. So, I cannot provide you first hand experience from him yet, but I can say he is the top runner at this time for my stock. Give him a look. Good luck. Whomever you decide to go with, I would really like to hear about the experience and results.

I have had John Lewandoski of finegunstockrefinishing.com do a couple for me, price and delivery were fair and the work was satisfactory. I have also used Steve Moeller Firearms Restoration Fulton,IL (815) 589-2300 to refinish M/70 and 53 Sporter stocks, he does great work. I have never dealt with classicgunstocks.com but they have a good reputation. Another gunstock refinisher from my files is embandsongunstocks.com, haven't used them either by they were recommended to me.
