Several years ago I had the chance to buy a NIB 760 carbine in 280 REM but another gunhead beat me to it. I was at a gunshow today walking around with a 5 diamond 760 in 308 and nobody showed any interest at all.

I have a 760 carbine in .270 and have a cousin in Florida who owns a carbine in .280 Remington so I know they made a few. My .270 will most likely be rebored to a .338-06 or 35 Whelen and Cerakoted fairly soon.

Great!! What will be its first hunt?? WCH: I leave for Maine soon. Will try to get it set up and zeroed in time. The rear site was removed and I don't want a scope so have to find a Williams peep for it. If so I will take it to Maine. moosemike I have a couple of pictures but the lighting was not great. Will try to get some more.I need to ask someone to post them for me.

Still have not gotten a handle on how to download the pics. And yes,I can/could post Bob's pics if he want's me too. Just make sure it's after the 15th of November, used up the free 10 GB's and will get it back on the 15th. Actually make that the 18th,be gone deer huntin' from the 13-17 of this month.

Okay Bob, got your pics. I hope you like - I 'rotated' them to horizontal for 2 reasons. 1. takes up less space & 2. IMO better concept of the rifle. Anyway here goes---POSTED FOR BOBNH AND VERY COOL, glad you got it. It certainly will be great handling in the woods. Jerry

Thanks Jerry and thanks guys to those offering to post the pics. Sorry about the lousy cell pics but you get the idea. As we see, it's a 280 and it's an original carbine(!). First I have ever seen. It came with see-through mounts and a cheap scope which I immediately yanked So it has no sites. The rear site was removed to make room for scope mounting. I really don't want to scope it but don't have the time to run around chasing irons right now. I may slap a 4X on it with Weaver rings for now until I can get a good peep site for it.

Thanks Ben! Not bad for $375 bucks, huh? I need 280 ammo. Not gonna hand load for it. Appeal to my Philistine side.

Wow, if it was hunted, it was babied! Nice snag! Agreed. For its age, it's in terrific condition. If you look at the bottom (far right) end of the pump handle you can see some scratches (minor). If you use a smart phone you can 'enlarge-move rt/lt/up/down' to the extent you want. Back to the scratches - I'd bet those got there from putting the rifle in a truck window 'gun rack'. Ask me how I'd know! It only took marring ONE pump handle for me to learn my lesson. Jerry

Bob -
I'm pretty sure I have the OEM rear sight for that model. If you'd want that, I'd gladly give it to you.
I removed all of mine. They are 'crude' and don't allow for precise aiming. However for woods hunting and snap shooting, they'd do.
I'll double check my XS rear sights.
Good luck finding 280 fac ammo. I have a friend in my area that has a B A 280 and 'here' it seems pretty easy to find Rem ammo.

A Tootsie roll Carbine in .280 yet! Sweet. In PA the only .280 ammo I could find was Remington. Here in NC all I can find is Federal Fusion. I don't care as long as its 140 grain.
