I would seriously doubt it. I'm no gunsmith, but I once I did ask a gunsmith about converting a USRA/Win. low-wall to a centerfire black powder cartridge. He recommended a .32-40 and said a .38-55 would be at the upper limit for that action. It would have involved some significant rework and parts replacement of the firing pin and extractor. Just looking at the action wall and barrel stub length makes me leery, and I'd wonder about the clearance to extract such a long case. Even if it could be done, I doubt it would be cost effective. All that said, maybe a qualified gunsmith could do such a conversion for a price, but I'd bet against it. There have to be better platforms for an M1885 single shot in .257R.

You would have 3 problems with such a conversion:
1. The low wall does not have as much support for the breech block as a high wall does.
2. The firing pin and hole are in the wrong place.
3. You would have to figure out how to make an extractor designed for a rimmed cartridge work with a rimless cartridge.

Ok, Browning made the low wall in 243 win and 260 rem, would one of those be a simple rebarrel?

They should be. I have not examined one, so can't say definitely.

dont know why not.. ame thing really. also, a 22-250 could be rebored to your roberts without pricey barrel/finish work.... just a thought..
