Nice working man's Drilling. Has some nice engraving but nothing too ornate or gawdy. Chambered in short 16 ga or antique 16 and 9.3x72R. I have pics but can not upload due to the recent photobucket change. Happy to email pics if interested. I'm really unsure of the value of this sweet girl so a little help is appreciated. Thanks!

Old drillings are flooding the market now that Germany has passed draconian gun laws, and inheriting the families' guns is now next to impossible. These old hammer snap-action guns are not too desirable, since better hammerless guns are now so cheap.
As a for-instance, I just passed on a rock solid 1970s Simson drilling in 16ga 2 3/4" chambers over 7X57R, scoped with a Zeiss 6X Diatal in claw mounts. The gun had some moderate exterior wear but nothing out of the ordinary. The price to me was $1,650.00 plus $40.00 insured shipping.
I estimate your gun's value at $600.00-$900.00, depending on condition. It's very expensive to shoot 65mm 16ga ammo and 9,3X72R ammo. 2 3/4" ammo and 7X57R ammo are relatively inexpensive.

Thx for the glowing recommendation. 🙁
$750-900 is the range I was expecting.
Most guys that will be interested in owning/shooting this gun I'm sure will be hand loaders. It comes with dies and some brass.

Dies and brass help a lot, since both are costly, and the buyer will get a big leg up in that respect. Hawk makes a good .365 200gr bullet for the 9,3X72R. The standard factory loading is 193gr .364. IMR 30-31 is a great powder for the X72R; start at 39-40gr. The drilling market is not red hot presently for sellers. I know my stock went down by about $10,000.00 in the last year.

Could the 16 gauge chambers be safely rechambered to the common 2 3/4" chambers. I have been looking for a cheap "shooting" drilling for a while now. Just trying to find the right gun and buy.

Shoot low to medium power 2 3/4" loads, and you should be fine. The gun will be stronger if you don't shave anything off. It might kick a bit more than it would with the longer chambers. Even re-chambered with sufficient wall thickness you shouldn't use anything heavy. I have a 16ga long forcing cone reamer to use as a good compromise.

You can buy 2-1/2" 16 gauge ammo from ballistic products, I bought some 12 gauge for a drilling I bought last year. Ronnie
