I'd use a set of vintage Leupold 'detacho' quick release rings and bases....

Lynx, call Talley Mon. morning after 8:00 am est.(803-854-5700). Tell them you need the standard low set for a pre-64 with .860 hole spacing but with the extended (rearward) front base. Greg or one of the guys there will know exactly what you need and take care of you. Some of the best customer service in the shooting business.

Due to clip slot, it takes express or big bore base, eg 375H&H, 300 H&H Base... Can be a pain to find but they are out there! very best winpoor! EDIT: that is for a target hornet, is your hornet the std or target? VB WinPoor

Standard hornet shouldn't have the clip slot. You should be good to go with a regular set of Leupold QRW's or the more sleek quick detatch system Leupold makes. I believe they are just called the QR (Quick Release) system... Pretty easy to find these on sites like ebay. The Talley's you ask about would also work.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

A Standard Hornet Transition M70 does not have a clip slot.... Yep, any pre 64 Leupold quick release should work, Me ,Im now hung on Double D's, the matt matches Winchester finish and they are very 'clean looking' , I did get a bad batch from Bass Pro, the front base cracked from front screw to front of base, I think the radius on bottom of base was off a tad.... I like em and will use more.... v best winpoor
