Mine is .35 Whelen in a REM 700 rebored to the Whelen. Trying out the Federal Fusion 200 gr load this season. Impressive accuracy in this rifle.

Caliber would probably be .308, but I suspect you're looking for a specific cartridge and bullet combo. I want to say my .30-06 and its preferred loads of either a 180 partition or power point driven at 2700+- fps but I haven't shot a deer with it in the 10 years I've owned it, so how can it be a favorite deer cartridge and bullet?
Probably the .270 and a 130 grain winchester silvertip is my favorite, still a little upset that winchester stop production of it both as a factory load or component bullet.

I feel like I should add I am only in my late 20's and not 65+ like that last sentence makes me sound.

Winchester mod 94 356 with 200gr power points unless hunting where there's brown bears, then switch to 250 kodiak's. Rest of the family use's 30.06 win featherweights with 180 fed premium trophy bonded tipped.

Nosler Partition in whatever cartridge I'm playing with that year.

Based on a sample of one, the 160 in a .270 would be my choice, if forced to choose. The loaded round looks like a 7X57, all grown up.

Most used, .257 Cal. (Roberts) and any 100 gr. Bullet.

Second most, several .30 Cals. From 2300-3000fps and any 150 gr. Bullet.

Runner ups, .270/130, .357 Mag carbine/180 Hornaday, .243/100gr.

In handguns, the .429 or .452 with 250-280 gr. cast.

They all work!

I think 257,6.5,270,7mm in a moderately sized case shooting a medium weight bullet of reasonable construction has whitetail written all over it.

Have to choose just one? 7mm-08 139g Hornady IL, no wait 6.5 Creed 129 Interlock, Its so hard to choose.

270........... 9 mule deer
7mm RemMag ....6 mule deer
257 Roberts Ackley Rimmed ......4 mule deer
6.5-06 ........1 mule deer ......1 whitetail
300 WinMag ....1 mule deer

They all work just fine, but I think 7mmRemMag works the best.

We can't use a rifle here, limited to shot gun only.

12 gauge Breneke Gold Magnum 3" through a T/C Encore with a rifled slug barrel.

Have had a 336 Marlin in .35 Rem for several years and am using it this year with Fed. 200 gr. SP, so at least this year it is my favorite deer caliber and bullet.

30 cal/ 150 corelock
8mm / depends on the rifle.
8mm mauser I like the 185 core lock.
8mm-06 ai. I think I will be going with the 180 NBT
I wish I had the time to load up some of the other bullets and cartridges I have bought over the last few years.
I have a 2 boxes of 53 grain tsx's that are begging to be loaded in my 223rem.

I have 2 boxes of 130 grain ttsx's in .308 and a box of 110 grain ttsx's to try in the 3006. I was thinking these would be great for reduced loads for my niece to hunt with when she gets a little bigger.

It is weird but I have maybe 8 rifles from 223 to 9.3 calibers that are capable of taking deer but out of my 15 deer to date. All but 3(killed with a bow) were killed with the mauser or 3006.
