its been a decent year so far for us here in the northland, our group has 8 so far, the kids are cleaning up. my oldest boy got his first buck a 10pnt, my youngest shot his first deer friday night, a nice doe. my daughter is still waiting. and so am i. I tend to hunt more during muzzleloader and leave this season now for the kids. Great dark horns on that canadian buck. Great job Weezy. Tried to get to chickenbuck this weekend but got detoured cutting deer again.

It is a silly fish that is caught twice with the same bait!

Keith,

99 had been out so often, this season, I chose to change it up & swap to the wife's (lucky) savage "lady" hunter in 7mm-08.

For a girls gun, it does well. grin Shot my bull moose with it last year too !

Doe tag will be harvested with the 99C, .308.

Or the model 11, in .243, if the 99 continues to disappoint me !

crazy

There are a few factors that attributed to it. High numbers of doe tags were issued for a lot of years, and everybody seems to think you have to fill all of them! The dnr issued them for about 2-3 seasons too long imo. The winter whacks em pretty quick if it's a bad one. We had 2 cold, snowy winters in a row, on top of the high dos tags and normal preaditors they deal with.

Camp Isabella report.

3 of 4 tags were filled. Two bucks and a doe. A total of 4 deer seen.

We took down camp yesterday and loaded up this morning and drove home in rain. Glad we got camp packed before the rain.

Dang next season is a long way off..

Nice deer to every one so far! Camp Three Lakes report. Deer numbers are looooowww! 4 of us in camp, no does seen and two bucks seen. I shot a buck on opener about 7am. I guess you could say he was a nice four pointer, left antler broke off 2" up from skull and right antler had 3 points. I'm super thrilled first deer down in camp in three seasons! Sad news, I saw and couldn't get a shot at the widest racked buck I've ever seen hunting in my life on 11/14 am. We had 5" of snow on everything in that thursday rain to sleet to snow storm. He came out of a spruce swamp with the 20mph winds at his back and I guess stared at me because I felt like something was looking up at me. The wind was whipping snow down on me from all the tall pines so I had my back that way, ugh. I turned to look at what I felt were eyes on me and seen him. Couldn't get the gun up and he was gone. Well hopefully next year.

The other 3 guys didn't see squat, and the camp down from us didn't get anything either. We closed camp after hunting seven days straight and drove home yesterday, I had just got home at 5pm and was gonna hop in the shower and my wife called with some sad news. Her stepdad had a massive heart attack and passed away at 60yrs old. Only good thing about it was He was a golpher and was having what sounds to be the best game of his life. He hit a great putt on the 17th hole and fell over on the green, crazy how it can happen. So prayers and thoughts please for the Nelson family, as all are taking it rough. Thanks in advance, J.

Well it starts all over again this week! I have the pot of spaghetti sauce cooking, the soup pot started, grocrie list figured, the pile of clothes on the floor to be re-washed, the knives are still sharp and the guns are still oiled...

The train heads north to cheese country early Friday morning.

Honestly this'll be my 5th or 6th year I've missed, got to many things in the head to remember, rightly.
