I just found a Howa Alpine .308 with the Vortex Viper 3x9 on it for 819.99 at Cabelas. It was marked use but it didn't look like it had ever chambered a round. When I was filling out the paperwork the manager came over and said it was their Howa salesmans demo and they bought it from him and it had never been fired. .308 wouldn't have been my first choice but I've been wanting a lightweight mountain rifle and couldn't pass it up.
Also anyone have an Alpine? How do you like it?

Nice looking rifle. Maybe just me but I'd want it .308. How you liking the Votex scope? Someone in the optics forum is considering one. http://www.legacysports.com/alpine-mountain-rifle

Cabelas Gun Library. Where they have the higher grade guns.
How do you know a Trump hater? They'll tell you.

You can buy guns in the library for 30% of the sticker. Tell me more about that please. I never tried to negotiate those prices. Our Cabelas has guns on open racks outside the library too. Are those negotiable as well. OP, congrats on that Alpine. I think you'll enjoy it.

Everything is negotiable.
Those Gun Libraries are filled with guns they bought for cheap. Think pawn shop when dealing with them.
Same for Scheels. You never know what they have into that gun so it doesn't hurt to ask.

Couple years back, I saw a Sako Forester almost identical to one I had just bought on GB for $850. The Hamburg Gun Library price was $1450. It is a great place to look at nice old Winchesters and British SXSs. Nice place to visit, but I don't buy much there, and it's four hours away.
What fresh Hell is this?
