This summer I was looking for a Featherweight .250 and Lightfoot here on the Campfire was kind enough to sell me his. He offered me some brass and some of his old handloads for the rifle as well, which I was happy to get. I put a Leupold VX III 1.5-5X scope on and and found it to be one of the best shooting 99s I've owned.

Last night I was sitting in one of my favorite stands at my cabin in Newaygo County, Michigan when a nice mature doe came in. With a steady rest at 90 yards it was no problem to center punch her through the top of the heart and both lungs. She spun and sprinted about 70 yards, leaving a blood trail that was spectacular. The round I used was one of Lightfoot's 87 grain handloads.

My buddy and I loaded the deer out, got back to the cabin, and hoisted a cold one in your honor Mike. Thanks again for passing this rifle on to me. I wish I could mail you some backstraps.

Rod

Classic one shot kill with a Classic rifle. That one will eat much better than a smelly old buck. GW

Nicely done.

Like to see that pic in Black and White.

Could easily pass for 1957 with the gun and gear.

1957! Hah, that's the year I was born! Can't go wrong with wool, or with a 99, for deer season.
