I had a chance to talk to my CCW instructor today. I asked him about the 9mm and he said a lot of Mpls cops are switching back to 9mm because with modern ammunition it is big enough to do the job. He is a retired Paramedic and has seen a lot of gunshots so I tend to believe him. whelennut

The 9mm cartridge is better than it has ever been. I depend on it quite a bit these days.

a friend of mine now retired from a major sheriff's department: a glock 19 and the 9mm is a perfectly aedequate pill dispenser that takes three rounds to do what reasonably one should do."
I had to say that.

If a double tap to the chest with a 147gr +P HST's ain't gonna do it, I want at least a 12 gauge as the next step up,

One of these cops has a dent in his head from a beer bottle thrown at the Black Lives matter protest the other night. He is not very happy about it from what my paramedic friend tells me.

Would you have expected him to be happy?

Don't be so hard on the BLM crowd.
They are just unhappy that those people in Paris took attention off of their "cause".

Where I live there are a lot of American Indians and they are not quite over having their land taken from them and consider me a refugee living on their land. So they are jealous about all the attention given to BLM people and/or Muslims. Hard to keep everybody happy.

Odd viewpoint they have there, since they had little concept of property rights and their original lifestyle involved wandered between different summer and winter camps. Also, recent DNA test on the Ojibwa (Chippewa)natives points to them having descended from Europeans, most likely just like you. Thus, you're just the newest neighbor from the same tribe. Click Here My summer place is a couple blocks from an Ojibwa reserve and they just love me when I bring this up. Actually, we all get along quite well.

They look to be well fed as far as I can see and drive nice vehicles. So I don't know why they want to complain. Some of my relatives came here because of a potato famine in Ireland. Others to escape having to be cannon fodder for various wars. I guess they were refugees after all.

Modern 9's are adequate but hitting center mass is more important. What do you hit best with?

I was listening to the radio and heard that a cop from Chicago had a knife wielding 27 year old on Pcp who would not put his knife down. Cop fired 16 rds and was preparing to reload. He could get 20 years to life. Bad news if they post the dash cam video.

I had to say that. I am inclined to agree. I attended a failed home invasion wherein the invader took three 147 grain Hydra Shocks between the navel and collar bones. It rearranged his priorities and he leaked quite a bit, but he was sitting on the curb when the cops & medics arrived. With youth and stupidity on his side, he survived.

I had my dna tested by national geopgraphic in their geonome project. My markers date to the ice age in russia and are only found in about 10% of the european population. Which means the ojibwa/chippewa and i are probably cousins. And i think the government needs to give me money, I am now officially sort of an aggrieved indian.

Ron, Congratulations! I still think if a PCP user with a knife was moving in my direction I would rather be holding a 1911 than any 9mm. Hopefully I will never be in that situation. whelennut

And I'm inclined to believe that 147 grain Hydra shocks were the sorriest 147 grain 9mm HP's ever commercially loaded.
