passed up a lot of deer this year, finally decided to fill a doe tag Sunday morning, nice plump girl dressed about 100#. ended up seeing 11 deer total that morning, which was a pretty good morning. So far this year i've had a lot of really good shooter bucks on camera..... but only been seeing dinks, or a few promising 2.5yr olds while hunting, and that needed more time to ripen up a bit. Sunday evening i got into a ladder on an oak ridge on my farm that sits above a 2 acre food plot of wheat/rye/clover; about 5:00 i spy a bit of movement in the oaks. I'm pretty damn tickled with this one.

Nice buck. My friends and cousins back in OK have laid low some bruisers already this fall and gun season is only 3 days old. I haven't made it back for gun season in 9 years now and get to Jonesing something fierce this time of year.

nice deer. I see you changed barrels between deer. What's the story on that?
They say everything happens for a reason. For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

a few more pix ....he's headed to the taxidermist today.. as an added bonus i drilled a couple of 'yotes over the last few weeks...if anyone eats the deer , it'll be me. gonna be a lot more dogs to come once we get deer season wrapped up, i'm hittin 'em hard starting in January. .25x30/30 Ackley Improved, Barnes 80gr TTSX at about 3200fps.. 30/30 Ackley Improved, Hornady 150 SST's..."dramatic" expansion on exit...

nice deer. I see you changed barrels between deer. What's the story on that? i like playing with assorted wildcats and calibers, the morning hunt was on a big clearing where a bit farther shots are possible. In the morning i had a .25x/30-30 Ackley Improved tube on, with a 3x9 Nikon Monarch. That load with 80gr TTSX's shoots at about 3200fps, and averages about .7 MOA. For the evening hunt i was in thicker timber and i stuck on my .445 "Ultra Mag", which is the .445 supermag , long throated to allow 265gr Hornady FTX's or 300gr XTP's to be seated out ; rather than the usual pistol powders (H110/296/Lil Gun) i go to slower powders 4198/Reloder7/LT-30/etc)to get about 2000 fps with 265's. .44mag in the middle, .445 with 265gg FTX's, and 300gr XTP's:

Super cool antlers on that deer. Really like it. Let me know when you get tired of looking at him!
