The opening weekend was real slow here. first day i saw one spike for 11 hours. Second day another spike decided to bed down 20 yds away and keep me company for 5 hours. He never knew how lucky he was. This morning I was off work burning up some vacation. It was dead quiet in the woods. 2 squirrels buy 9am and only a couple shots in the distance. I'm sitting there enjoying a cup of coffee @ 903 when someone on the neighboring property bumped this one out of his bed. I double lunged him on the first shot but wasn't real sure. he spun and ran towards me so I shot 2 more times. The third shot cartwheeled him and he ended up stone dead 15 yds from the stand. You can see the shadow of my legs in the upper left. Turns out I hit him all three times but he was dead on the first shot. neither one of us knew it at the time though. Not a huge rack but another big bodied deer.

Nice and congratulations. Now you should know you cannot post a deer kill with pictures on the fire with out details on rifle, load etc....bad manners.

Doc Doc, believe it or not NY recently changed the law allowing rifles in the next county over from me, which is literally 400 yds as the crow flies from where this one was shot. As all of my property sits in a shotgun only area, I busted him with my 1187 20g youth shooting the now extinct Federal Premium Vital-shoks with the Barnes Expanders. Same combo I busted this one with last year. I think they were related. Given the cover I'm not at any disadvantage. It does hurt to burn up three rounds out of my dwindling supply when one would have sufficed.
