Looking for some insight. I found a left hand Weatherby with a fiberglass stock and a Leupold M8 4x scope. It is chambered in 30-06 and the barrel has some horizontal porting at the muzzle. In looking at Weatherby's site, it is a Japanese made rifle.
Any insight on when the first lightweights were made? Currently have it on hold and was looking for any experiences with the Japanese made Weatherbys.

As a long time Weatherby user, in my opinion, the jap Weatherbys are the best. The horizontal porting is probably a "Magna Port" job.
A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”

Jorge is correct. The Jap serial numbers had a "H" prefix. John

It is better to be judged by 12 than to be carried by 6.
