I have been looking for a sale on a colt or springfield 1911 but I haven't found much. Am I missing any good deals?

That's good buy but that guy won't let me drive out and pick it up. So I have to pay shipping, FFL transfer and sales tax.

Don't understand that. He's obviously a commercial vendor, given all his transactions. Doesn't make sense.

Wtf? You're in the same state, why not? I used to be an FFL holder. Just a whole lot of dumbfuckery when it comes to gun sales.

Dink Dang! That guy does have some decent prices. I own the first gun and also this one. I was thinking there wasn't much difference in their prices, but lo and behold... http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=526779810Personally, I don't like buying off Gunbroker or any other internet site anyway. About the only time I will is if it's something that is just danged difficult to find locally.

I think he deals from his shop/garage.
It's been a couple years I wanted to buy a Browning BPS in 410 and he emailed me and stated I could not pick up.

I have a friend who used to personally buy and sell some guns through classified ads. He'll still go out and 'buy' - but he no longer wants strangers coming to his house for guns.

Dink http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/21_141/Colt/or http://www.cdnnsports.com/firearms.html#category_2=FIREARMS%2FHANDGUNS&manufacturer=COLT ….both are websites worth looking at periodically. JMO-YMMV Greg

Out of those, this one is tempting, even though I like the Gold Cup.

Depends on what you mean by a "good deal." I think Springfield's "milspec" 1911 is a good starting point for price and quality, though I have heard good things about Rock Island (I don't know anything about them except that they are reasonably priced). I think anything with the Colt name brings a premium. So a good deal would be any Colt 1911 you find at a low price. I may be wrong, but that seems to mostly lie in their 1991A1 series. Regardless of make the 1911 has become the ultimate "home builders" platform, allowing you to correct a range of deficiencies without going to a gunsmith. Best of luck.

As has been stated, you don't define what a "good deal" may mean to you, but Northern Firearms on Gunbroker (which is Reed's Outdoor Outfitters in Walker, MN) has quite a few SIG, some Kimber, Springfield, and Colt 1911s listed on Gunbroker. One example is a Springfield Range Officer for $730. The good part is they don't charge extra for a credit card and they ship for free.

I've bought several guns from Northern Firearms off gunbroker. Great deals!
