While it is certainly a worthwhile endeavor to reduce runout, you may be surprised by how those high-runout rounds shoot at moderate distances. I recently shot a few rounds of 6.5 SAUM that I'd turned, prepped, & loaded with new RP 7mm SAUM brass. I picked the rounds with the most runout (0.010 or greater) and fired two sub-half moa five shot groups before I ran out of daylight. I'll use the rest of those for deer hunting or mid-range practice. I'd have no problems running those out to 500 yards or so.

While developing my process for forming 6.5 SAUM brass, I did a step-by-step analysis of runout. Without exception, the bushings are what gave me increased runout. I bought a Whidden 6.5 SAUM full-length die and the issue was reduced, though still very present on new brass. Once fired, things are fine and runout is minimal.

Green,
Personally after shooting rounds with no to low run out and rounds with high run out I don't shoot high run out rounds anymore unless they are brand new brass. Not sure why your 6.5 SAUM tolerates them but my 280 Ackley does not like them at all.
The .008 to .011 rounds will pressure up in my rifle unless they are loaded lighter than the rounds I use to hunt with. Accuracy is not there either. Possibly because I was shooting Barnes 145 LRX's. Copper fouling worse as well.
I am building a 6.5 SAUM now. Looks like Norma brass. May give Whidden a call as I use his dies for my 6.5/47.
Defiance Action, Hawk Hills 26" 8 twist barrel, and a Timney Calvin Elite trigger. Not sure what chassis yet.
Your experience from your post indicates you have run out on new brass which I find is common as well. Gotta shoot them to straighten them out for sure. Thanks for your input.

Dave
