Hi All,
I just purchased a model 99, ser # C0070xx, from reading forums on this site I think it is mid 70s. It has a ugly finish on the wood and I want to refinish it. I tried to remove the forearm but is extremely tight. Any suggestions ? I can move the tip of the forearm about 1/8 " down from the barrel with lots of force! Just dont want to break it!

Should just come off, when you take the screw out, Id go slow and apply presure. Now if its a older Take down always have the lever open, before you take the forarm off.
Deer Camp! about as good as it gets!

never use force! just get a bigger hammer. seriously though with the 99 if it is not a takedown model remove the forarm stud screw and tap the sides while putting downward pressure on the tip. with a takedown model always have the action open. if your model is an f the forearm stud is soldered on. DON'T over tighten the screw. the stud can pop off. don't ask how I know. heartbreak
