There are a dozen D coordinators I can name off the top of my head that could equal the Defensive stats given those same players (Muschamp, Chizik, Roof, Strong, Pruitt, Chavez to start the list). Kirby might be Nicky II, or Boom Jr. We don't know. The fans will be happy, more or less. Yes , only a few people know the depth of Smarts involvement with the defense.

He has strong ties with high school coaches in Florida, and is a proven top shelf recruiter. I'm guessing Miami will be back on top in the ACC within a few of years.
