I know I complain about the wolves a lot but there's A LOT of wolves up north. Between a few bad winters and the over managed herd. Hell, we in area 178 were intensive harvest (5 deer allotments) then managed harvest (3 deer allotments) right up to the bucks only the last two seasons, even though all the areas around us were lottery for does. So we had a bunch of extra hunters around us from 08 till 2013. Our deer taken average around the camp was good till 5 years ago. But the worst part is the three separate wolf packs around our "area" has taken a heavy toll on the herd. Last year the only buck taken by the three camps/leases on our logging spur was a big 8 pointer that the wolves killed and ate, was a yard away from their shack steps. Nice huh, they drove in to open camp the morning before opening day and the bucks rack, some hide, bones and a big blood stain was a tripping hazard.

That sure is a nice doe, I shot one 4 seasons ago like her that dressed 131lbs. The buck I shot this year (about a mile and a half away from that doe) probably had a handful of lbs on her, same body shape, size and look. We just couldn't weigh em this year cause somebody decided they needed our scale more'n us! :-( Oh well!

ND, I hope you guys have a blast with the CCW. My wife and I got ours 3 years ago. She packs her Ruger SR-22lr about every were she can. Me, I just have a 6" barreled 357, so it goes in my lunchbox or vehicle most of the time. I'm not a fan of open carry in the cities down here and a Dirty Harry shoulder holster doesn't conceal well in the summer under a t-shirt. Haha

Justin,

The last time I hunted in 178, I believe it was intensive harvest. 2010 I believe it was. There were not nearly enough deer even then to have that going on!!

Mama broken her leg last night. frown

She thought she was a the bottom but had one more step to go and fell. We were in ER for 4 hrs. We got home about 10 last night. She's in some pain this morning but not as much as last night. I feel horrible for her. frown

She has to sit with it elevated until we see the ortho doc. She IS NOT one that can sit still for more than 7 seconds.

Dang that stinks Tom. Hope she heals up quick.

Congrats to all the successful hunters! I helped the wife tag out opening morning with a forkhorn freezer pleaser. I'm still muzzleloading but the deer seem to have moved on. After we got some snow, not a track was to be found on the land I hunt. It doesn't help that all the farmland/corn ground was able to be plowed with the nice fall weather but oh well. Could be worse...

Hey does anybody know why the majority of the pics posted on the fire show up as a box with an X in it?

I see some but for the most part its just an X. For example, I can see TJay's pics but not Colorado's. My photobucket hasn't worked in months either. Do you think it correlates to that issue?

Well mama doesn't need surgery but she's not very comfortable.

I've been under the weather for about a week, so I also went to the doc today and they gave me the good news... Pneumonia and high BP.

I got prescriptions for both...one forever. frown I guess I knew it was coming for a few reasons. A) I'm fat B) the entire side of my mom's family has it.

I'm only 40 pounds away from the 30 I wanted to lose this summer. laugh

So as soon as I finish this cheese burger I'm going to change my diet. grin I kid, I kid!

Just take care of both of you Tom, Dont want to let that BP get out of whack either. I joined that crowd as well. pretty common now it seems. Just found out my Dad had another stroke with in the last month or so. Did and MRI last week, seems to be coming around some but long road agian. the last 11 months have been real challenging and very busy. Alot of new stuff for me to have to take care of now and every day is busy running. Lifes to short so make the most of it. Be there when you can be!
