It's a model 70 Westerner .243 that I got for Christmas in 1982. These days I usually reach for something more exotic, but the .243 reminded me it hadn't killed a deer in about 15 years, so I've carried it some and shot this fat doe this evening at about 170 yards at last light with some 20+ year old PMC 100 gr SP factory ammo. I won't wait another 15 years to shoot another with it...

Burst out the scrub at full noise only 20 yards away, didn't have time to use the scope and just eyeballed the shoulder down the barrel. The finishing shot exited down the snout. Christmas pork is sorted!
