I own a Tikka T3 in 6.5x55 Swede. I ]Tikka T 3[/url] notice some assymetry in the inletting of barrel channel. The barrel still passes the dollar bill challenge but channel is a lot closer to one side of barrel then the other. Is this a problem or should I not worry about it?

I suspect machine was not aligned with center line of the stock and problem started back at the receiver.

How does it shoot?

You can probably make up quite a bit of the difference by rebedding it, but that would have the potential to apply stresses to the action.

You can also mine the fore arm and glass bed a bunch of fishing rod or arrow shaft sections in there to straighten and stiffen it.

You would need to make a jig to hold it in the new straight condition if you try to straighten it, but that is simple.

I'm pretty new to Tikkas - bought my first one last year. In taking it out of the box, the barrel was notably off center in the channel similar to yours. At least on mine, there's a fair amount of "play" in the factory inletting - loosening the action screws allowed me to center up the barrel in the channel and it seems to be staying that way after snugging the screws back up. This bedding has me scratching my head and considering glass bedding it, but I want to shoot it more before messing with it.

I agree the bedding is strange.

I loosened screws, moved the barrel and shimmer it, tightened screws and then removed shims. Thanks for the advice.
