Hey guys I'm mounting a vx6 3-18-44 on a 85 grey wolf will I need the extended base or the regular long action please only reply if you have experience with this set up I'm using optilock a no other mount the 2 piece also already have rings they sent the short action base and the ring is to far forward

I have a Sako 85 finnlight in 300 win mag. I can use standard optilocks or ring mounts with a variety of scopes. No extension rings needed as long as tube is as long as a Leupold 3-9x40mm. I haven't tried anything shorter.

Have 85 classic, its uses long bases. I think the action would be the same.

If exchanging or ordering new, I would go ahead and get the extended. That way you can use a shorter scope if you decide to change later.
