That old man upstairs, he wears a crooked smile
Staring down at the chaos he created
Said son if you ain't having fun just wait a little while
Momma's gonna wash it all away
And she thinks Mercy's overrated...
Sturgill Simpson, Living the Dream

I was listening to this song yesterday while working and I couldn't help but break a smile. I cannot lay claim to being the old man with a crooked smile, nor even Mother Nature unleashing another Noah like flood, that Sturgill references in the song.

I can completely understand the implied emotions they must have felt though as we tie a ribbon on the 2015 regular season, send a hearty congratulations to Larry on another big win, get the prize and charity donation sent off (04hunter chose a bullet mold and St Jude's as his preferences BTW), and prepare for a big bowl game party to send us through the end of the year in style.

It is good to have a fresh start and a chance at redemption. God knows I need a little of both after such a dismal showing. But a man has to be careful. Like the song implies, sometimes Mercy is in short supply with fresh starts. A man can get in over his head and end up looking back at an earlier disappointment and wish he had known when he was well off! shocked

The pool is up and running and those of you who were in it last season should have received your invitation. For those of you in this years regular season who did not play last year just send me a PM with your address and I will send the invitation pronto. Same goes for any newbies that want to play along.

The rules are the same as last season:

You can change your pick up until kick off of each game.
Each game has an assigned number of points.
Straight up picks for the winner, no point spreads used.
Most point wins.

The prize is the same as always: $50 for a prize and $50 for a charity donation.

So here we go again. The first game is a week from saturday so we need to get any and all signed up pretty quickly. If you aren't onboard yet let's get on it and get everyone ready to go ASAP.

Best of luck,
Will

Picks are already in.

IF I win (HA!), just make a two donations (all $100) to the GoFundMe site set up for dvdegeorge's cousin's son - link

The bowl picks are just as big a hoot as the regular season - perhaps more so. I always can do a marvelous job of misidentifying which teams go into the game hungry and which teams are just showing up. It is amazing how much some teams can change between the end of the season and the bowl game. Remember a few years ago when the quarterback from Tosu showed up looking like the Michelin Tire Man? It is always fun to have a bunch of match-ups different than those we see in the regular season; there are often some really good, close games (usually in the less-well-thought-of bowls), and Will's pool makes it all the more enjoyable.

I haven't been able to check the standings yet.

My dad was murdered and I've been out on the streets 24/7 solving the crime.

How's me doin' Hoop?

Yourami - Washington State: The most dumb-ass play call in the history of college football gives the ball back to Washington State after the Cougars had handed the 'Canes the game inside the thirty.

Hard to tell, looks to me like it was over the top, never inside the pole, even if the pole extended to infinity.

What's the offical rule concerning over the top, I don't know?
