Now I'm confused - why would euro optic not say it was stainless? Here is their description from the website -
"Sako 85 Black Synthetic is a new darker take on an all-time favorite giving you trouble-free ownership and legendary Sako performance. Black grip areas against the black satin-like stock create a stunning profile. Matte blued barrel and trigger components complete the totally blacked out appearance."

They also say:
"Black soft touch grips press against the black satin-like stock for a stunning profile and the firmest hold you’ve ever experienced. The Sako 85 Synthetic features a two-way safety with bolt release lever, non-reflective and weather resistant stainless metal parts, Sako 85 conical dovetail rail, and a detachable two row staggered steel magazine."

So the description is wrong and EuroOptic doesn't know what they are selling? Not saying it's not possible or wouldn't be the first time with a retailer, but EuroOptic is usually pretty on top of stuff..

I don't see any black Finnlights at Europtics, only regular 85 models. Also, they are $1199 according to the website.

Well...I called Sako and they said they are black stainless. Suppose to be same gun as finnlight just black. I decided to order one. For the price tag it is worth a shot. I guess Im not terribly concerned about the barrel but more so the stock and grip. If it comes and is not the same I will return it and get a hold of one of the guys here that offered up one of theirs. If anyone else is looking for one be sure to contact some of these guy on this topic. They have some great guns and prices. I will post a report when gun arrives. Thanks all! Happy holidays

They have em in 6.5x55 Swede. I noticed that. Tempting. I just hate the thought of bleeding off a couple hundred fps on average though.

I have a 6.5 Swede Finnlight....great shooter. The 140 gr Accubonds are awesome.
Wish I could determine if the black finish was blued or what? I tried to see what the Black Bear models are and there was no description of those either.

I shot 2 of the black rifles in 270 yesterday with powermax bonded 130gr 3 shot average of .70 one group was a ragged hole and they are the same rifle as a finnlight just coated inside action also I like them better than my stainless finnlights if I didn't already have a stainless one I would have a .270 black rifle on the way

well I received the black .270. I love it. It is essentially a finnlight. Not sure what to describe on the barrel other than it is a black, not the blued finish. Just jet black. Very neat looking gun, light, smooth etc. Really looking forward to shooting.

I picked up one of the Black Rifles in 30.06 and it is essentially the same rifle as my Finnlight ST in .270, only difference is cosmetic.
I actually prefer the look of the Black Rifle as I never likes the look of the grey spots on the Finnlight stock, made the gun look cheap in my opinion.

I can tell you 100% that the black rifle is a stainless finnlight with a black finish on it. My buddy works for beretta and they had a bunch of actions and barrels and stocks. They built a special run and they just didn't take off like they wanted them too. Hence made a deal with Euro optics to buy all of the inventory. Rest is history. Another buddy bought one in 6.5x55 and it shoots jagged holes. Great little rifles. It would not even be a decision in my book. Brand new 1100. Euro optic stated today that they are NOT stainless underneath...that is according to their rep as it is a common question for them.

Finnlight has a stainless fluted barreled action and grey grip spots on the stock.
The Black Rifle has the same fluted barreled action, but blued not stainless. The stock is axactly the same but the grip spots on the rifle are black...
It is a stainless rifle with a black coating of some sort. They are fantastic rifles. A buddy has one in swede and it shoots bugholes..... I just read a couple more post. I may be wrong....they may not be stainless. I've never scratched the surface.
