Side trap door. That's about all I know will get pictures up as soon as I can. Can't find much info, so what say you.

Tom, I think the trap door was made in 50-70 and 45-70.. The .30-40 came along about 1898.. May be wrong, but that is what I would guess.

That's what I am seeing also, my friend gave me the info. He also said the serial # is 3232. He is goin to get me some pics as I have not seen it yet.

The 30-40 Krag wasn't around in 1884, nor was the Springfield Armory built U.S. Krag adopted until 1892. The Krags have a "side trapdoor" magazine on the right side of the rifle, but that isn't the same critter as the "trapdoor" Springfield single-shot that the U.S. Army from 186? through 189?.

I sold mine a couple of years ago for $800.00. It did sit for awhile but it is was worth it in the end. It was real clean and had a nice stock. You won't find much on this rifle unless you can find a group into re-enactments or something.

I suggest putting it on consignment somewhere that gets a lot of traffic and being patient. You will be surprised guys like um because most are sporterized and if yours is stock that brings the attention.

That is if you are willing to part with it. I am looking to see if I still have pics.
