Yesterday I went to the range to do some testing. I took 3 Beretta CX-4 storms along to sight them in with some new red dot optics that I got for them. The Guns for testing are Springfield's new 1911's in 9mm and 45 ACP. Groups were not stellar, it remains to be seen if there is an article that can be salvaged from the groups. The Storms, on the other hand, Shot well and will be hell on rabbits if I can make it out this winter... Storm 45 ACP... Storm 40 S&W... Storm 9mm with adjustments in the group...

So if the gun sucks or won't group there is no article written about it?

So if the gun sucks or won't group there is no article written about it? LOL. So that's why you never read a negative gun review in the gun rags.

The gun magazines are not like the Campfire where anyone can make objections to anything and write what they want without fear of retribution. It kind of follows the rule, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all". This is not to say there still isn't an article, but with 3 different brands of ammo in both guns, neither was what you see on the Campfire. But then again, the Campfire isn't much of a resource for truth...

I dunno Shrapnel,
I'd guess that a lot of guys care less about groups with a handgun than you seem to believe. Especially so with defense or duty weapons.
My own 1911, a budget model with sight upgrade, shoots so-so groups at anything other than very short range. I do manage to get the first shot out of the holster pretty much right on the sights, and it is extremely reliable. And it's all I'll ever ask from a defensive pistol.

The best groups I ever got from my 1911 were with Fed 230 hydra-shoks. Haven't seen any available in years...

I don't spend time shooting groups, I try to get a gun hitting point of aim. It doesn't sound that much different but it is. The guns are nice looking and packaged well. The triggers could use some work and everyone knows a good trigger can help a gun shoot. Reliability has a lot to do with these guns and I didn't have any problems with that, but more time needs to be spent checking other nuances of each gun. The magazines were well made at the mouth so you didn't have sharp edges that hurt when you loaded the magazine. There is a lot to look at when you consider testing these things, after more shooting the guns could settle down a bit and groups could improve...

Not a big fan of group shooting with pistols.

I have the Storm in 9mm. It is totally reliable and great fun to plink away with Ruskie steel case ammo.
