I picked this forearm up recently as it was new in box, but the inlets are about half an inch forward of my h model. Any body know what model it would fit? Thanks

By "inlets" do you mean the latch mechanism or where the back plate attaches?

Looks like 1899 a takedown the hole in the side kind of dates it.
What you have done is not nearly as important as how you have done it!!! The Old Fart 2008 A.D.

The hole means it took the early collar. The wide barrel channel looks like probably an 1899A. The collar was changed about 1919/1920.

Yes I mean the latch inlet. This stock is not correct for my H (1690xx) made about 1915.

What they are saying is that the forearm is from the correct/same time period but it is for a rifle weight brl vs. your feather weight brl.

Did not think about selling this , just would like to know what model it was for. I thought the forearms would be the same for like models regardless of take down or solid frames.

I might be missing something, but I think you are missing the point. The forearm may be the same era as your H. But, it is not the "Like Model". It may be for an 1899 A Standard Weight Rifle with 26 inch barrel, and probably quite a bit heavier than your 20" H barrel, Joe.
I'm not greedy, I just want one of each.

The barrel is a lot fatter on the 1899A therefor the groove in the forearm is much wider. I'll try to get some comparison photos in the next few days.

I thought the forearms would be the same for like models regardless of take down or solid frames. Completely different forearm for the takedown. It has a metal fixture that engages the receiver and is held on by a latch. Fixed frame forearms are solid wood held on by a screw.

Betcha it's for a G model. The latch spacing is different between them and the earlier H's. Another fact I found out the hard way. I don't know if the TD latch spacing on other models from the 20'-30's mimicked the G spacing or not.
As for it being a wide barrel channel, it looks "normal" to me- not for a heavy barreled rifle.

If i rember the "G" md had 2 diffrent lenths, between the early and the later Mds. I had a pic of the 2 side by side on Tals website, may still have it in my Photo bucket but have not been able to get into it in 3 years now!

Not for the G. It has the bolt through the side which was dropped around serial 200,000 and the G was checkered. It is for the 1899-A TD rifle or Short Rifle TD.

Some photos of an 1899A TD, serial number 92489, caliber 25-35 and an 1899H TD serial #123958, caliber 22 HP. The 1899H is on the top. Note how the 1899H forearm tapers rapidly to match the thinner lightweight barrel. "A picture says a thousand words". I didn't originate that saying. "Three pictures say 500 words." I did say that. That's why my book has over 250 color pictures. David
