I just received my Talleys. Im mounting a Weaver K4 Classic on a Weatherby VG. The scope has an elongated optic bell.

So I mounted the front ring w/ the foot toward the front of the barrel. Seems ok,,,,,, what do you guys think?

Absolutely fine as they are reversible for flexibility.
Also I like the looks better with the two feet pointing in opposite directions but ultimately whatever is the most comfortable mount will determine that.

That's what I thought thanks John.

BUT........... I get the scope mount, all concerned about eye relief (which worked out fine) I look thru the scope and the top crosshair(vertical one) is separated from the rest!!!! Think im gonna send it back to midway and just buy the Leupold!

be careful tightening the rear ring if it's located right in front of the eye piece (ocular) bell. it's easy to break the crosshairs if you get carried away. ask me how I know...

anymore I go as tight as I think I can get the front ring, and just barely tight enough on the rear ring if it's near the ocular bell.

Toad please elaborate, the cross hair on my Weaver K4 is separated at the top. Brand new scope! I used the allen wrench that Talley send to tighten the screws but didn't go crazy w/ it.

I broke the cross hairs in a 6x Leupold cranking the rear ring down farmer tight. rifle is a .375 RUM and I thought I had to go farmer tight to keep the scope in place. Leupold fixed it for free. got the scope back from leupold and dropped it back into those same rings, but tightened the rear ring down just enough, and that scope has been happy ever since.

Thanks for the tip Toad. I cant say for sure that I broke it because now that it's off the rifle it doesn't look broken.

Anyway midway is going to exchange it. I'll go a little easier on the rear screws.

Get yourself a torque screwdriver, you'll probably be surprised at how much you've been over doing it on the base and ring screws, I know I sure was:)
