huntsman, I know you use them a lot. I want a good stable one, that is easy to attach and detach. Not opposed to spending a c note, just wondered if it was necessary. mtmuley

do you want pan head or ball mount? I prefer panhead, myself. I like the ones that have the control handle coming outta the right side. I actually don't mind having to thread them on each time. The quick release ones seem to all be big and bulky. I'd rather have something smaller, and leave it attached and folded up, under the scope. The older cast bushnell mount is my fave, and the cheapo Alpen works fine for that.....

Panhead seems to be the preferred model. Completely new, as I just bought a scope this year. I anticipate using it a lot during antelope hunting. Kinda why I thought the easy on easy off deal would be good as I cover a lot of area in the truck. Leaving it attached would really be a plus. Thanks, mtmuley

I prefer a ball mount and just use the scope to pan. Mine is made by swarovski, but I think leupold has one thats pretty much the same, might be cheaper than the swaro but not sure.

Vanguard PH 304 or equivalent model. I use an 80mm Konus angled eyepiece scope, so needed something with maximum adaptability for truck window use. Inexpensive, flexible and sturdy. http://www.vanguardworld.us/photo_video_us/ph-304.html#go-sectionTop
If three or more people think you're a dimwit, chances are at least one of them is right.

The older cast bushnell mount is my fave That's what i use, and added one of these so the quick release plate stays on the scope and I can swap between window mount and tripod.

Do you have a tripod and head that you currently are using? If so make sure the window mount will allow you to use the same adapter plate as the tripod.

JeremyKS, good idea. Do you guys know if the current Bushnell mount is as good as the older one? Heading down to the "big" town on Sunday to have a look at a few. Thanks, mtmuley

I don't like it. It has a little under-nut deallie to tighten. Too used to the old style, I reckon.

I'm hoping to find several different ones I can actually get my hands on. Don't really want to order one sight unseen and be stuck with a mount I don't like. I'll look for the ones recommended. mtmuley

thanks for that tidbit. just ordered one... I hope you ordered each piece. It's the most rock solid setup out there. You don't have to guess where the scope is going to settle and I digiscope off mine quite a bit and there's no movement. Lock it down and you're done and I'm using a Meopta S2 spotter which isn't light

I already have that window clamp, but with a ball head. i just did need feedback on which pan head that'll take the RC2 plates so i can replace the ball head.
i had it narrowed down to two, one of which was the one you linked.
thanks again.

That is a heck of a nice set-up, Drum. I have those heads on my tripods, but cut down the handles. Only problem for me, on a window mount, is the scope is too high depending on window sill height in some vehicles. Not everybody is tall like you.....
