I'll repeat here the question I posted on the other thread about this...
what scope should we put on a #1 in 9.3x74R?

I put a Leupy VX3 1.5-5 on mine. One of the best balanced rifles I ever owned and stupidly sold it to finance something else. Terry

M8 4x28 work pretty well. Not cutting edge optics but easy to get behind. Other good deals are out there on no 1s right now. I picked up a 1a 270 for 800 and change nib from davidsons gun genie.

I put a Nikon 1.5 x 4.5 on my Ruger # 1 in 9.3 x74 R and did very well with it in Namibia.
Good combination and classic looking sporting rifle.
IMHO - the right way to hunt - with a single shot.

Tell me what game you will hunt with it & your average range along with your price range and could make a better informed suggestion.
I personally would put a Swarovski Z3 3-10x42 with a 4A reticle on it if I bought one - I have one on my ltwt Rem 700 .308 and my really ltwt Model 700 7mm08 and I have an older pre Z3 with a standard crosshairs on my truck gun - a Rem 700 .223 with a 20" barrels with a factory laminated stock which came off a MtRifle.
I also have the same Z3 on a Blaser K95 .308

Fortis, I have owned several #1s over the years and currently have a 7x57 1A. For guns such as the 243 or the 22-250 I use to have where I primarily shot varmints with it I always liked a good variable with at least 9x on the top end. For big game rifles such as my 7x57 I haven't found any scope that works out better for me than one of the old USA made Burris fullfield 4x32 fixed powers. The turrets on these sit a bit more forward than on say a Leupold which allows you to pull the scope back a bit in the rings. Plus these are just nice solid old scopes , bright and with a big fov.

After playing with my #1s in 45-70 for a while now, I would have jumped on the 9.3X74R from CDNN, but I already own its twin, a 9.3X62 in a bolt action…one of my favorites. Hard hitting, easy to reload and good for most all game in N. America. If you reload, there is a nice selection of bullets, and brass is readily available. In addition, there are a number of powders that work for the 9.3X62 or 9.3X74R.
Start young, hunt hard, and enjoy God's bounty.
