I will be way up North near Lake Superior myself on the Bois Brule river. I'll be taking 2 of my Husqvarna rifles; fullstock 7x57 and a 9.3x57.

Last few years I've heard fewer and fewer opening day shots. Also noticed fewer and fewer hunters. Back in the '70's, Minong's night life was like the old westerns. Orange-clad hunters literally filling the streets and the local bars. Not anymore. Maybe that's a good thing.

But the DNR still thinks there's tons of deer in the NW quarter. We'll see. Last year, according to the DNR website on registered deer, there were only 12 from DMAs #1-10.. Methinks the wolves are not registering their kills; the little poachers........

Of course, the DNR thinks there's no wolf problem..

I'll be South of Goodman; some nice bucks in years past, but fear the wolves are taking a toll. Just back from bowhunting the area and saw a few deer and heard no coyotes this year. I've got a 7-08 ready with 145 grain Grand Slams and a backuo 06. Good luck and safe hunting to everyone.
