All of you WSSM owners will be glad to know Winchester will start manufacturing the ammo in February.

Glad I didn't buy into that marketing ploy.

Also glad that those that did will have a run of ammo made.

Sweet! Just hope it's not $100 a box. I'll have to stock up on some 223 so my rifle will be of use in the future. I've got 6 boxes but would be nice to have more.

The small dealer wholesale for the only 25 WSSM ammo that I can find cataloged, the 120 grain PEP, is $28.55 per box of 20. WSSM shooters are getting gouged by GB sellers, but, that said, most people don't plan ahead very well.

I bought into the WSSMs; 223(x3), 243(x5), and 25(x16). When Federal made 223 and 243 WSSM brass, I bought 10K pieces to feed the herd for as long as they needed feeding. The only thing wrong with it is that it takes up a lot of shelf space.

Is this a limited production run ?

WTF do you do with 16 25WSSMs? Or did I read that wrong? Sometimes I wonder if 3 280's is too many.....

But hell man, good for you! I wish I could buy guns at that rate

Can you really get 25-06 performance from a 25 WSSM?
I always thought if I ever built a custom antelope rifle, I'd build it on a WSSM action and chamber for 25 WSSM. I could get a 24 inch barrel and it would still fit in the overhead gun rack in my truck.

Winchester/Olin claims that their 25 WSSM ammo is loaded to the same performance levels as they load their 25-06 ammo. You might be able to load the 25 WSSM hotter, but I don't. I mostly shoot 75 grain VMax at 3,650, 100 grain Partitions at 3,200, or 110 grain ABs at 3,100.

I put together a dedicated pdog rifle with a 1-14" ROT Shilen barrel that has been a surprisingly lucky whitetail rifle with the old 75 and 85 grain Barnes Original X. I've moved on from the 25 WSSM, but the good memories remain.

I thought about rebarreling a 70 WSSM to 500 S&W, thinking that it would be an interesting short range combination, but never got around to it and probably won't.

I bought a new .243 WSSM featherweight for cost. It ABSOLUTELY wouldn't feed from the magazine. I mean in no way shape or form. I shot 2 boxes out of it and it shot roughly 10-12 inch patterns at 100. I took it back to the place I bought it. They shot it and gave me my money back. They couldn't get it to feed or shoot either.

Interesting. There used to be a site, www.wssmzone.com, where the WSSM fans, what few of them there were, would gather to talk WSSM.

As for myself, I have had good success with the 25 WSSM and have put roughly 5K bullets down range via several different Winchester/USRA 70S. For several years, most of my hunting was done with the 25 WSSM, 75 grain VMax for varmints and, mostly, 100 grain Partitions for medium game. I did happen to have a 70 stainless Ultimate Shadow that is bedded in a McM Compact in my hands the day in November when the heaviest whitetail that I've yet to tag crossed my path. 1 shot with a 110 grain AB put him down in his tracks.

If they built that 25 on a WSM they'd have had a hot seller IMO.

I'd love to try the .223 WSSM just to see what 4600fps is like.

I shot a few pdogs with the 243 wssm, 58gr Vmax at 4,000+. It was pretty spectacular, can't imagine 4,600!

+1

However 5 30-06 rifles seems fine to me grin

I screwed a 223WSSM PacNor on a Savage when they first came out, just to see what it was about.

Handloaded, and necks annealed, it's a shooting SOB. I've never really been able to shoot better than half MOA but I can hold that with this rifle.

With 75 Amaxes, it's a great long range shooter.

I have lots of double-digit multiples; 223, 22-250, 22HP, 243, 250-3000, 257 Roberts, 25 WSSM, etc.

If the brass situation wasn't soo bad, I'd build a 35WSSM to deer hunt here with. Think it'd be fun!
