I've been thinking about jumping into the airguns game, and I think this seems like a good option. I've got access to a couple of free scuba tanks to fill with. I need something small and pack able and the p-rod seems to fit the bill using a 6 position stock. Main use will be squirrels, rabbits, birds, and maybe a turkey or coyote if they wander too close when it's in hand.
Do any of you guys have one of these, and if you do how do you like it. If you don't, but think you know of something else that fits the criteria speak up. I'm not sold on anything.
I had one...I bought it brand new from Amazon along with a hand pump. It leaked air right from the start, so I took it apart, polished the reservoir with a drill/dowel/steel wool...replaced all the O-rings, did the B Staley mod. & ordered a new shroud/moderator from this guy http://www.marmotmilitia.com/
The new shroud worked great, but I had to play with the baffles a bit...cranking up the power too much, made it a little too loud for the backyard (very close neighbors at the time) so I backed it off to get about 780 fps in the velocity dept. with the 16 gr. polymags that shot best, & it was extremely accurate.
As far as killing stuff goes, it accounted for a coon, 3 or 4 opossums & numerous OTHER feral pests...body shoot em & they will (usually) run off. A well placed head shot drops em where they stand...Coyotes? I suppose it would work if you had all the angles & range right, buy I'd opt for a .25 caliber (preferably larger) for anything large.
Scuba tanks are great, but look for the high pressure tanks.
If I'm ever lucky enough to be able to afford one I'd like to pick up one of these...the "hummingbird" or cricket in .25
I have a Generation 1 MRod in .22 cal and a Generation 2 in .25 Cal. extremely accurate and powerful guns. Watch, it is an addiction. I also have collected.
Smith and Wesson 78G Smith and Wesson 79G Crossman 2240 Semi-customized Crossman 2240 (stock) Sam Yang Dragon Claw.....Awesome Rifle.
Feel like a kid again, But all kidding aside, these are not toys. Serious weapons. Thinking about selling the MRod .25 to fund "Airforce Texan" it is next on the wish list.
