I have no use for a fixed 8, but a fixed 7 - there's an idea I could get behind!

Nope. Not alone. For where I hunt, it would be the perfect compromise in a fixed x scope. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

The 3-9 covers that base.

It would. But if I could get a fixed X solution, that would be my preference. The 6x isn't bad. I would like the 10x even better than the 6x if the reticle were a little thicker. My current solution is the LRHS which overlaps the 3-9 SS in capabilities, so I haven't tried the 3-9 SS yet.

The reticle in the 3-9 is bolder than either the 10x or 6x. I also prefer a variable hunting scope, for one price I get a 4x, a 6x, and a 9x. YMMV.

I have the LRHS as well and really like it for my .223, that reticle has grown on me and I now prefer it to the Milquad.

If Bushy comes out with one without side focus and a 1/4lb lighter, I will replace my 3-9 SS's for big game rifles.

An 8X42 would be pretty versatile/practical.

Very popular in binos, giving a 5mm+ exit pupil, useful magnification, and good FOV.

When I was using a Leup MK4 3.5-10x40, I preferred to dial down power to around 8X most of the time. That would buy a bit more FOV, without making the FFP reticle seem too tight.

I figure if a 6x ain't enough then a 10x will work fine. If you're in an area where 6x ain't enough, 10x won't be too much.

I can see where 6X and 10X make a sensible step up or down.

I can also see where an 8X and 12X would cover a lot of ground.

In either case, the 1-4 Illuminati for the jungle.

Both 6x and 10x are doable, but often find 6x a bit lite and 10x a bit much. I use a variable at 8x and never notice anything lacking one way or other. The find the advantages of a fixed 8x appealing.

Most blokes I know that run 3-9x scopes leave them constantly on 9x.

Dunno why the hell they don't just run a fixed 10x.

Same here. A little extra power over a 6x and since many pupils don't get to 7mm, no appreciable loss in 'light'

I guess, I've not found 6x lacking inside of 500 yards.

I think the 8X market is limited with the robust 3-9 already offered.
