As I previously mentioned, I am new to AR rifles and know very little about them. I just bought a S&W, I've got the scope mounted and I noticed the trigger is very heavy, at least compared to what I'm used to with my hunting rifles. What are my options and what lb range is considered practical (my hunting rifles are about 3.5lb). thanks!

cheap decent wayt to go, RRA 2 stage varmint...

LIght and single stage are often not real safe.

I have never pulled a single stage AR trigger that is anywhere like my bolt gun triggers, but you could say I"m a bit picky...

I like the SSA-E

Not cheap though.

There were some really good BF deals a while back for $170....couldn't help picking up a few "spares"

Primary has em now for $192

First stage = 2.3lbs
Second stage = 1.2lbs

I'll second the RRA 2 stage. I have 2 of those and they are very good for little cash. I run the JP reduced power springs with mine.

RRA had their triggers on clearance. I paid &70 shipped for a 2 stage NM. Not sure if they're still same price.

G2S an OK trigger I got it on sale at Christmas the heaviest after market trigger I have, no idea of the pull but light years ahead of any trigger supplied with a gun.

RRA Varmint a good hunting trigger again no idea of the pull but lighter than the G2S, I like this trigger in a 6.8 hunting riflle.

SSA-E the best triggers I own I would not want anything lighter in a SD or hunting gun.

AR Gold I am sure it is a fine trigger but I did not like it, bought it, tried it sent it back for a refund.

I have the POF 4.5 lb trigger on my POF lower because it came with it. Great trigger. I use it on my hunting 6.8.

My other ARs all have ALG ACTs. Unlike most, I prefer a single stage on my AR. A good 4.5-5.5 lb single stage is easy to shoot for me and I'm used to 3.5 lb triggers on my bolt guns.

The ALG series f triggers are AFFORDABLE, should last forever and are a tremendous improvement over the stock(milspec) type triggers. They get away from the long gritty heavy pull. Current production has an option for lighter or standard weight.

I'm really liking my Rock River Two-stage Match, zero complaints.

So does it have a lot of over travel? I just can't get it through my thick skull how a single stage would not double tap in an auto. My bud just installed that same CMC in his AR and I'll be checking it out this weekend.

depending on design, I've seen a lot of single stage ones double or more...

Especially the dang crowd that believes in polish and lighten springs and sear engagement to minimal will be perfect and last forever...

Ive also shot tuned single stages that sucked, but never doubled for me, that did it ever time for my brother in law.
