Let's say you just acquired a 223/5.56 black rifle.

Would you pay a premium if someone would put together a variety pack of 223/5.56 ammo so you could try out 10 different factory loads.

I think I would pay $100 for a 50 pack of 5 times 10 different factory loads.

Otherwise you might have to pay quite a bit more, especially if you include shipping and want to try out some Black Hills at $50-$60 per 50 round box. I paid approximately $200 for this set. I would have paid $100 for a better assortment that included 5 each of the Black Hills, 5 of the Hornady, 5 of the American Eagle 50 gr. plus 5 each of 6 other quality factory loads.

Part of the reason I would pay for an assortment is that here in Central NJ there is no place I can get to in under one hour where I can find a good selection of factory loads in .223 or 5.56. Accordingly, to try out various factory loads I also need to pay shipping.

For accuracy testing, the first thing you can do is pull out all the boxes of FMJ and set them aside for blasting watermelons.

Wasting money on FMJ ammo when searching for accuracy is something I'll never understand. You basically have 4 loads to test.

I'd consider investing in a reloading kit.

That. But if you must shoot factory. Federal 69 and 77gr Gold Medal will tell you if your barrel has the accuracy you desire, and I'd say 62gr Fusion is probably the best OTC game load, performance and accuracy. Barnes 62's are primo, but I don't know who's loading it.

Not the only time someone suggested 69 Fed GMM... more so than the 77s IMHO.
