I have often heard that RWS is every bit as good as Lapua, true?

My remington produced 7mm weatherby brass is on its last legs and no new runs to be found, prolly be that way for some time. I do have a bunch of Norma stamped 7wby brass, and it is concentric, consistent, and soft!

I just ordered 20 pieces of RWS from Huntington in 300win to try out,I would go thru the trouble of making 7 wby out of it if its worth it, trim dies make it fairly easy.

so whats the consensus on RWS?

Best brass I ever used. Very consistent in thickness and weight. I used it mostly for reforming for wildcats, some of the reforming being quite radical. Worth every penny you have to pay.

Great brass. As good as it gets. Best around for the majority of cartridges.

Right up there with Lapua, which is the best. Of course nothing wrong with Norma, which is the best of the rest.

I have a stash of RWS 5.6x52R (.22 Savage HiPower) brass that is outliving everything else I have in that size. I'll probably cry when it is finally used up. Ditto the stash of 70 grain .228" RWS H-Mantle bullets for that gun.

Thanks all, looking forward to working with it.

Huntington has RWS 5.6x52R listed, no price on them tho.

Huntingtons wants $37 for 20 cases of .243 Win. Wow.

Screw you! I'm voting for Trump again!

RWS is the gold standard. Say what you want about Lapua, Norma et al. RWS is simply the best.

Imagine how I drooled when in a gun shop in Frankfurt, Germany a few years ago, where the shelves were groaning under the weight of RWS ammo, brass, and .22rf ammo.

All the red tape and hoops to jump through aren't worth it for a couple boxes of brass, even if it is RWS!

I've read RWS is up there with Lapua so couple of years ago Sportsman's Guide had a sale on RWS ammo for around $17 a box. I got 5 boxes each of 280 Rem and 270 Win for the brass. I figured I'd fire it off and have the brass, but the ammo shot so well, esp in my 270 where I could put the 130 H Mantles into just over an in....I hate to waste them now, I'm told it's a good bullet.

I'm not too sure if its better but they are both great brass. I shoot a lot of the goofy rimmed cartridges(5.6x50R, 6.5x57R, 7x57R, 7x65R, etc) so its the easiest for me to get. But if Lapua or RWS make the brass, or close to what I need that is what I buy.

A year later, but would like to report that RWS is all its cracked up to be..and pretty easy to form into what you want.

This required one stroke thru an RCBS trim die, and a couple of swipes with a file, then into a 7wby die, which you can set up to control headspace from the first poke, which is never a bad thing..

Results are the best brass ever fed into a 7mm weatherby smile

Old post... But I wanted to comment that I too agree that RWS is as good if not better than Lapua. I am using it in 270 right now. Norma wouldn't hold up to the standard 60 grains H-4831 with a 130 grain pill. Primer pockets loosened after 3 firings. Soft brass for sure.

This RWS stuff I got is now on its 9th firing and primer pockets are tighter than a snare drum still. The neck thickness and overall concentricity is as good if not better than anything Lapua I have worked with.

Huntingtons is pricey. But this stuff is worth it. I bit the bullet and got a bunch from same lot number and I won't ever look back. Lapua and RWS for me.

How does the case volume compare to Lapua, Norma, or Nosler?
Specifically, in .300 Win. mag.? (Winchester/RWS to simplify).
Thanks,
Jim

Rosco how many firings so far? Had to do any annealing?

The 280 Remington is overbore.

The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.
