My boss just ordered a 700 in 308 SS rifle.
My first inclination when he asked about scope was for the money, go 3x9 conquest.
Then he is leaning towards silver and when I looked at the new Terra, and evne old conquest silver evidently is no longer a thing...
Looking for conqest type optics in silver and 500 or less.
Having just bought a VX2 or whatever that line is thats 4x12, those optics are very poor optics.
The above may not be possible and if so let me know.
Thanks, Jeff

Why would he want to put a silver colored scope on a rifle?

He may change his mind once he sees the gun and a spare conquest I have....
But for now he thingks black would look bad.
I have not been overly impressed with any nikon lately. But that was about all I was thinking best Leupy for 500 or under or same with nikon having to be silver at this point.

I agree,I actually don't like silver scopes...I think the black offsets teh SS and looks better, though I could really care less about gun looks.

Tell him to buy this. It's black, but I'd use it if it were pink. He can paint it any color he wants. Buy quality 1st, color is irrelevant. http://www.eurooptic.com/zeiss-conq...ting-turrets-matte-black-5214609920.aspx

Have him look at the Burris 3-9 with Ballistic Plex. Sight in at 200 then next line 300 and so on. I smack the 400 yard 10x10 square with my 308.

I agree on the conquest... my opinion doesn't much matter.
Thanks for the pics.
Had not thought of Burris. Always thought them to be dim, but he said he was looking at a new Redfield too... they've always been dim to...

You think the VX2 is "very poor" but would consider a Burris?

Most folks who have silver scopes have them on .270's and look like this:

they do look better with silver rings IMHO Just the glare in the picture hurts my eyes. If you ever have to signal for help, it will save you from having to carry a mirror.

Why would he want to put a silver colored scope on a rifle? Different strokes for different folks.

You think the VX2 is "very poor" but would consider a Burris? Who said I'd consider it? I just said I had not thought of them as another option to offer the guy. Me, I'd buy a Zeiss or better hands down almost every time. I own one burris and its enough for me, and that one is circa 86 or so....
