I have a Swaro Z5 3.5-18x44mm going on a 700 LA and am thinking about using Nightforce Ultralight Rings and bases. A) Do you guys like the NF ULs and B) can I use low rings or will I have to go with mediums?

I like the rings, very solid. I have 1.00" mediums on a Nightforce SHV 56mm objective.

I like them pretty well I just. Wish the under lug cross bolt was squared off rather than rounded off. I don't know why they make them that way

NF makes great rings....stick with the lows which are .885" in height.

Are the NF ULS rings with 2 piece bases appropriate for an 8 pound hunting rifle or too cumbersome and bulky? I have not seen them and other NF products I have always been around were on the large size.

That set-up will work nicely for you....NF ULS's are just that, ultra-light.

Don't over think this....you will be fine!!

Awesome. I am looking for a solid setup for my 300 WBY and this sounds like it will work.

I used the NF Ultralights with a pic rail for the last two years quite a bit including on a 260, 308, and a 300 Win Mag. Overall, they have worked well, and have proven reliable. Initially, they did allow for slipping. Some two-sided Scotch on the inside fixed the problem and they have been great ever since. Definitely would recommend them if weight reduction is the goal. Use a torque wrench with any aluminum ring to avoid cracking. The NF steel rings are my favorites if weight is less of a concern. The steel have never allowed slipping, and never had a single issue despite many miles of use.

Application of the two-sided tape.

End result on a 300 Win Mag.
