I am in the process of rebuilding a Pre-64 FWT in 308 and have not found a stock I like yet. Does anybody have any info on stocks that will fit. I also have been thinking about pulling the barrel and going with a Winchester short mag, 270, or 300. Any ideas on How much I will have to alter the bolt face and extractor. Any help would be great. The stock is the first problem though, dry rotted a little.
Love those Pre 64`s.
Shoot strait and keep your powder dry

I recently purchased one of boyds semi inlett stocks in upgraded walnut. I can say that the inletting was very good, only took about 5 minutes to get a perfect fit. I did add a shadow line to the cheek piece, a grip cap, and a red decelerator pad. Gotta have it checkered but pleased with what I received for $150 [Linked Image]

That is a nice looking stock on that gun.
The recoil bad sets it off just rite.
You did a great job on it.
I will see about getting one.

Yes, I did the work myself. It really want too difficult. I just examined pictures of other custom model 70's I liked and slowly went about rasping away until I got what felt right. Thanks for the compliments. Fitting the pad with a mikita 5" orbital sander took some time...

Sell that rifle to a collector.

Search for a M70 that's made the way you want it.

It's faster and costs less.
