I'd sell my LH RAR in .308 to step up to a heavy barrel. These rifles are too cheap and rough to bother re-barrel-ing.

They may be cheap, but never seen a more accurate out of the box rifle.

I've got the compact stainless LH 243. First day at the range, I was getting 2 shots touching at 100 yards. They come pretty close to Tikka at now less than half the cost.
I thought about picking up the standard length stainless 7mm-08 while they are still available. No real need for it though.
It helps to have a really solid rest at the range. I use the Caldwell Rock front rest. In that I use the Protektor regular owl ear front bag, and the #14B rear bag. Having the rear bag really locks in the lighter weight rifles.

The only potential hold up I see at the moment:
The Ruger American inventory is low. Most distributors don't have the full line in stock. Most of the American Predators are still on allocation -- especially the 6.5 Creedmoor. As it is now, Ruger isn't producing enough to meet the demand. It may be difficult to convince them to divert production to another SKU when they can't make enough as is.
That's just an outsiders view of the situation. I'll let you all know when I hear something.
I enjoy handguns and I really like shotguns,...but I love rifles!

We are looking at 2016 anyway for Ruger to schedule a special run. My concern is Ruger will likely require 250 units to make the run. A call to Lipseys with the same special run question and a commitment from Whittakers for so many guns might get Rugers attention.
just sayin.

Looks like the new Ruger Precision Rifle will have aftermarket support for pre-fit barrels. The action seems very similar. Is there an option to monkey wrench the RAR barrel nut off and use these new pre-fits with the RPR barrel nut? I'd rather just buy another whole RAR, but this might be a better option for some.

Add another interested party. I'd love to be able to pick up a lefty American Rifle Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor for my son. I bought him a left handed .243Win as his first big game rifle. Impressive little gun for the money.

Why can,t Ruger offer the American in the Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor in LH????? After shooting my sons RH one I want one in LH. Who makes a LH 6.5 Creedmoor? Kurt, just rebarrel another RAR. Shortest route to your goal. I'm thinking of doing it to get a 280 Rem. Or a 9.3 x 62.

We have Larch trees up here....which I am told are the true Double Negative of all trees in that they are deciduous conifers that drop their needles annually. That and random other schittt is what's in there.
Please God, give me some good tags this year....

Getting impatient on LH Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor, so I bought a LH, Ruger, Hawkeye, blue, wood in .308 Win at CDNN they dropped the price again.
Hoping to rebarrel it in 6.5 Creedmoor. Will wait a while and see what Ruger decides to do.
Ran a few through another Ruger 308 I have and seemed to feed great.
If any one knows of a 6.5 barrel I am interested.

Sold my LH MRC 6.5 X 284 have a bunch of 6.5 Bullets, Loaded for my Sons 6.5 C Moor RAR Predator, 9 loads 3 different bullets, 6 of the loads prev. untested went under 1" best were .6".
So went out and bought a RH Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor.
So now I can shoot together with my son, my Fathers day present! Hope fully Ruger will make one in LH.
If my new rifle wont shoot like his a swap might be made ? Same 6 X 42 SWFA scope rings they look identical ! Trigger was adjusted to 3 # and free floated. 20 min job.
