I know it is a small caliber but has anyone killed deer size game with one?

Not legally . . .
In North Dakota, handguns used for deer hunting must have a minimum barrel length of 4" and be .35 Caliber or larger.

Not yet, but I'm sure I will. Practically the same as the 32-20, and it works.

Not legal for deer in Ohio but I have no doubt that it would be quite effective given the usual consideration for bullet selection, distance and shot placement. I've loaded a lot of mid-range 327 ammo but have just recently started to push the upper limits in a 5.5" Single Seven. Working up to published max loads has not presented any issues such as primer flow (small rifle primers) or sticky extraction. Now that I have a scope mounted, I'll try to find a balance between power and accuracy.

For some reason, I find this cartridge really interesting. Looking forward to more reports.

I'm the opposite as I don't really 'get' the .327. To each his own, but I would pick a .357 over the .327 every day for almost everything that a handgun can do, from targets to deer to self defense.

WHADID YA SAY ?? (GRIN)
I figured as much....for some reason I think a 3 inch gun in 327 would be neat to have , but I'm not sure why....

I needed to get something chambered in 327 Federal because I didn't have one. I did some trading for a NIB 32 H&R Single Six that was intended to fill the 32 caliber void but never shot it since the Single Seven joined the pack before I gathered the components to load for it.
Comparing my 6" S&W 686 158gr and the 5.5" Single Seven 110gr, the 327 is not as nearly loud and has much less recoil. Granted, the 357 has more energy so it's to be expected. A 3" 357 is just not fun to me.
I plan to buy the next reasonably priced Ruger SP101 in 327 that I lay eyes on. No interest at all in the 327 LCR even though it would probably be a better carry option.
Waiting for an 8" 327 Taurus Tracker and (never gonna' happen) 327 lever rifle.

I have never been a fan of the 32 cal handgun and would pick the 357 Mag over any 32

I have killed a couple of ~100# hogs with a Ruger 32 H&R and the 115 gr SWC.

I like the round too, on general principles. I think it about ideal as a do-all revolver round for small game and predators with two or four legs. I quit the 38/357 some time back and the 327 could sure handle the bottom two thirds what those rounds do, in handier revolvers.

I've had lots of 32H&Rs and just find them fun to shoot. What other reason do you need?
I'm running a 130gr SWC in my FA97 that I hope to put through some pigs soon.

My bud just bought a Ruger SP 101, 4 inch Got a chance to shoot it.
Pleasant to shoot and not bad as far as recoil is concerned.
Nice piece, will, no doubt get better after some rounds.

Cabela's in Columbus, OH showed a limited inventory of SP101 .327 when I checked this morning online. I got there just after the doors opened and bought the only one they had. Also grabbed a Savage 12FV in 308. They even had 17hm2 ammo!
It was a pretty good morning!

I killed 4 deer back in the 80s with a .32 mag. Some were with the 85 grain hornady hollowpoint ... pre XTP. I might have used the RCBS 98 grain SWC on 1-2, I can't remember for sure.
I had a .327 Single Seven for a while. I traded it to help me acquire a Buckeye Special .32 mag / .32-20.
I wouldn't hesitate to use the .327 on deer ... very much. No different than the .32 mag which meant CAREFUL shot placement into the ribs broad-side and not taking any shots anywhere else period. I might have been more adventurous had Speer not discontinued the 115 grain JHP meant for the .327. Now, back to XTPs only, I'd return to previous levels of caution.
IMHO it's sort of a stunt .. there's nothing wrong with that if you think it through and have some "pass up shots" discipline. If all you care about is making a deer dead, a .357 will let you take more shots reasonably and a .44 is better yet.
