This is a simple recipe my daughter-in-law tried out on me and I have used it over and over--you can adjust the "heat" by using Rotel instead of tomatoes, hot Taco Seasoning, and adding the jalapeno pepper. If I leave out the spicy stuff, my campmates call it "sissy soup."

1 lb ground meat or cubed venison, ring sausage, or feral hog
2 cans tomatoes or Rotel
3 cans assorted beans (kidney, brown, black, northern)
1 clove garlic diced
1 med/lg onion diced
1 pkg Taco seasoning (mild or hot-your call)
1 pkg Hidden Valley Ranch dressing dry mix.
One can beer-optional or two cups water
1 chopped jalapeno pepper-optional
Brown the meat, then add the beer/water and all the rest of the ingredients. Stir it up and add some water if it looks too dry (I drain the beans before I add them, so I need more liquid).

Cook at low-medium heat for an hour or so--stirring occasionally.

great with cornbread and great in camp.
