OK hosers, quick report from on the road...

Nice place, you'll like it! Pics to follow.

For those of you driving, you wont need 4WD...good gravel road into the lodge.
You WILL need a kill light, these pigs are big and wild, and mostly nocturnal.

I was there for two and killed out on my first two stands. 85lb sow and 125 lb boar. Could have shot an extra the next night but gave him a pass.
Group of 7 hunters were leaving in the middle of my stay. They were there for 2 each and went home with 12...one guy telling me he only wanted one....so he only shot one. Their pigs were up to 208 lbs and they passed up bigger ones cause they aint as good to eat.

Details and pics in a couple days. laugh

I use the Wicked Lights 403 IC from Allpredatorcalls.com

http://www.allpredatorcalls.com/wic...-led-for-predator-and-hog-night-hunting/

I've used the XLR 250 Kill Light and the Wicked 400 with two batteries.

The 403 has an intensity control knob. With the others they are at full power. With those you should hold your rifle vertical, turn on the light then slowly bring the beam down on the animal. Sometime that even spooks them. The 403 not only telescopes from wide beam to narrow (sqaure) beam but the intensity can be turned all the way down allowing you stay on target and slowly turn up the intensity. IMHO works much better. The only draw-back is that because of the IC knob the light is easily turned on in your pack. I either make sure the I/C is turned all the way down or take out the battery until I'm ready to turn on the light.

old style without I/c

As I use a number of rifles I also got the universal quick mount. I can change from one rifle to another in just over a minute.

some folks prefer red. I use green.

Nice! What sort of setups do they have, as far as blinds? Typical distance from blind to feeder?

I have the XRL 252 with a Whisper Silent Dimmer switch adjustable brightness at your fingertips

"A truly intuitive way to precisely control your brightness level for every shot, the Kill Light® Whisper Silent Dimmer™ Switch provides customizable intensity control at your fingertips. Simple plus (+) minus (-) pressure points on the control pad adjust your light from off to high power and everywhere in between. Quiet, no click control allows for precise brightness control for each and every shot. No need to maintain pressure or click to the desired mode. Finger pressure dials in just the right amount of light for each shooting situation and distance. Quick connect plug system eliminates changing tailcaps and the possibility of damaging your switch on pesky snagging limbs."

Yep, I need a new kill light. Last year I went cheap. You get what you pay for, because it sucks, 50 yrds max. Roof had a good light, but not sure which one he bought. Any other suggestions? The light that GW has looks good, but not sure about the remote battery pack.

Brian you can spend more, get the adjustable dimmer switch, longer range lights etc just search through the sight all depends on your uses and how often to actually use a kill light

FWIW,

don't waste your money on the Laser Genetics (BSA) ND3 laser. It's a piece of crap unless they've done major revisions.

So went to Amazon and picked one of their imports up for deer season, red lens model. That's the one I'm bringing this year. Good light for what it is.

Close to this one. This will work for me after misplacing my better 250 model.

Thanks guys. Roof said he's got the XLR 250. It seemed to work really well. I think I'm gonna buy one. I have to do it now, I'm gonna be away next week.

Are you planning on going hand to hand with the pigs?
