I'm looking for the perfect folder for everyday use. I have yet to find the perfect knife and it may not even exist, but I keep looking. I'm looking a little harder now since I'm down a knife at the moment.
It would have to be a pocket clip-equipped knife. It would need to be fairly slim and smooth, but the handle can't be too small either. I prefer a liner lock but I can live with a lock back blade that is 3.25-3.75" long, with a thumb stud of course. I like drop point blades without too much curve to the cutting edge
An Al Mar Falcon or Eagle Hd are not far off the mark, though lock backs. The handles might be just a little bit small but doable.
I am a user, not a collector. However, I would certainly consider a custom knife, but I don't know much about custom makers or how to find one with what I want.

I prefer liner locks as well. Larry Withrow made me this gem which is my EDC. Super smooth deployment, strong detent and zero blade movement. He can instal clips for a few bucks extra. Can't speak highly enough about his work. That is 4" closed. D2 steel with Westinghouse micarta scales with ruby red liners and black g10 spacer.

For me it is a William Henry T12-CF. They've been discontinued but can be found on the used market if you're patient. Has every atribute you mention, weigh just over 2 ounces and are surptisingly stout. I have one in my pocket now that I boned out a whitetail with. Great steel (ATS 34 or 154CM) and carbon fiber in a well made knife. It's the bottom knife in the picture below. I hope you find what you're looking for. Frank

I asked Tobin Smith to make one according to some specs I gave him and he called it the Slim Vigilante. This one has a 3" blade but I have another with 3.25" blade (S35VN). Has a clip on the opposite side. I'm fond of it.

Thanks for the suggestions. there are a lot of really nice knives here, some of them are really just about spot on perfect. the William Henry T12-CF is definitely very close to what I am looking for.
However, jcmcubic, that folder is probably the closest yet to what I'm after. It is almost perfect.
I googled Tobin Smith Knives and found he has a webpage but isn't taking orders. A beautiful swing but a miss. Hmmm. What to do now.
Wanna sell?

Well....maybe. Didn't realize he wasn't taking orders any more. I might sell the 3.25" one. I'll send you a pm.
