For those who want a synthetic stocked rifle, have a look at the new JP Sauer & Son model 100.
externally adjustable trigger
flush fitting 5 round magazine
free floated barrel
bedded action
great caliber selection from 222 Rem through 300 Win Mag.

Only offered in Right Hand configuration for 2016

This rifle is new and will be arriving on dealer shelves this summer. It'll be available in a black synthetic stock or a Beech Wood stock. I've seen and handled the rifle and am very impressed. the stock is more solid than the Tikka and has the typical Sauer tolerances. It will use the Remington 700 scope mount spacing so you'll have a great selection of mounting options. The barrel is threaded into the receiver instead of being press fit.

This rifle will be distributed through Sports South and has a retail price of $699 for the synthetic and $849 for the wood stocked version.

Here is an intro video. It's in Finnish, but it shows all the new features, and the stock up close. The modular stock is odd, but I guess it might have it's place.

No problem. Yeah, I thought the same thing. It's going to keep the value on the old models, that's for sure. Maybe that's what the rep meant by they are dropping the T3......as we know it.

I was trying to dig up more info with a Google search and that's what I found.

I'm not sure if the pistol grip or the forend is more ridiculous. To widen it, you actually slip a forend shell over the normal one.

I heard rumor they might be offering Tikka's in rimfire but no news from the show in Germany on these! What I find interesting is if you go to Tikka website and click on the T3X icon, then go to filtering options it list all the caliber options along with the 22lr, 22 wmr, 17 hmr and 17 mach 2.

'twas hoping the compact or adjustable models would be offered in LH, but they aren't. Kid may get a hunter and I whittle the stock down then buy him an aftermarket replacement when he's grown. If I don't get him an RAR instead.

The aluminum lug is now steel and the shroud is no longer plastic -- it's metal too.

The barrel is floated all the way back -- no more speed bumps -- or at least that's the way it was on the rifle I played with.

Hey Darrik,

How you doing? Very happy with the T3 I purchased from you before Thanksgiving, it is a tack driver and filled my three deer tags. Thanks!

Regarding the new T3's. I'm guessing prices have increased significantly for the improvements over the older models?

Thanks,

Bill

Bill,

Dealer cost on the rifle went up $25.

Thanks Darrik, thinking of picking up another T3 at some point.

So the question is, Rikka, Wikka, Kikka, or Tikka? I can see the summer rifle thread drama brewing.

Oh joy.....

I'm thinking I'll have to get another of the Superlites before they run out of the 'old' ones. Now I need to figure out which one.

Some of the barrel lengths for the T3 stainless are now listed as 20", but it doesn't specify why or what. They also list those in 22".

Just watched a report on the Euro-shot show, kinda-sorta. The T3X looked pretty good, even to this Tikka doubter. Besides what's already been discussed, it also featured interchangeable grip modules. The larger action port looks better even at the expense of a little stiffness. Like to see a walnut/stainless version.

The rep said they tried very hard to hold the price line.

I'm not seeing what their reasoning is with the modular stock. I don't think grip angle and forearm width were the complaints with the stock from people that didn't like the stocks. It's the same stock, just with a bolt on grip and an optional wider forend that slides over the standard one.

For what they did, and if the goal was to keep the price point the same, just put a better pad on it, maybe change the ejection port (again, not a real serious complaint issue), add the metal shroud, and keep the price exactly the same, or even lower. The modular stock is not going to keep someone from buying an aftermarket stock for these, that's for sure.

Well seeing some one brought up the Superlites and ran across this on another forum!

"I emailed Berreta and asked if Sportsmans warehouse and Cabela's will be getting Tikka T3x super lites. This was their response, "I do not believe that there will be a Super Lite T3x."
