Can buy a new old style .243 Montana or a new Montana with the threaded barrel for $100 more. Don't care either way about the threaded barrel. Are their any issues that may have been addressed with the 2016 models?

Ordered the one with the threaded barrel. Guess I'll try Kimber.

I ordered one also with the threaded barrel, guess I will see if it bugs me too much when it gets here. I can always have it cut off and consider the expense a learning experience.

The threaded barrel on the RARP 6.5 CM I recently had did not bother me in the least. Maybe Kimbers planning on getting into the suppressor business like Ruger has.

I would think the demand for the threadless barrel would begin to put new old Kimbers in greater demand - at a lesser price to boot.

They need to beef up the barrel if that is the plan… Not enough shoulder to adequately seat a suppressor and with that very light barrel it would have a boatload of POI diff. between suppressed and not suppressed. So obviously I don't see much use for the threads! I've looked pretty hard at the RARP in 6.5 (I have one of the RARP 308's and like it)… I would cut the barrel back to 18 inches to reduce the overall length with a suppressor though. YMMV, Jerry

I think that is why they sell this: Muzzle Thread Adapter Not that the adapter will help with potential poi issues. I will have zero use for a threaded Montana myself.

I just ordered a new Montana .308 Win. My LGS could not get anything but the 2016 version with the threaded muzzle from his suppliers. I assume they had sold all of the old stock.
This may have been true only for my LGS and his suppliers or the .308 caliber or both.

I have a Montana and love it. But who in the hell is running that place? First it was the funky new trigger shoe, then the painted aluminum trigger guard, and now the threaded barrel. Next they'll be installing a damn trigger lock.

I almost went Finnlight. Did not want to deal with the clunky/high choices of scope mounts.
