Anyone have any information on transportation for non-resident moose hunt? Either flying up river, or using a boat. Is it easy to get someone to fly you in? Is the price reasonable?
How is the hunting pressure?
Thanks,

That's a Wild & Scenic river so rules apply. Jim Tweto is the fellow that comes to mind when asking for pilots. He just retired from Ravn Alaska as their Unalakleet station manager but he might still fly charters with his super cub. That beautiful, wild country for sure.

This is the headwaters in winter: Wheels are not allowed back here in the snow-free time. It would be very very unlikely to see another person back here in the fall. I don't know a lot about the lower end of the river where it approaches St. Mary's, but I would imagine there would be some local traffic. A person would need to find a gravel bar on which to land a plane higher up the river. Based on what I know of area in winter, I don't know if there are many places a plane could be landed. That river isn't much higher up. A somewhat bigger river and one with better moose potential if you wanted a remote river hunt might be the Anvik River.

More good info. I really appreciate it. Looks like a pretty lonely place. I'll make some phone calls and see what I can come up with. Thank you.

Moose or not, that looks like a hell of a trip.
